Job Description
- Looking for an Embedded Hardware Design Engineer with hands-on experience in electronic product development and embedded hardware design. The role involves end-to-end ownership of hardware development—from requirements, architecture, schematic and PCB design to board bring-up, validation, production support, and lifecycle management.
- The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, attention to engineering quality, and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams to develop reliable, high-performance electronic systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze system/customer requirements and develop hardware architecture.
- Design analog, digital, mixed-signal, and embedded circuits using Altium Designer/Allegro.
- Select components considering performance, reliability, cost, availability, lifecycle, and compliance.
- Design and validate power supplies, including DC-DC converters and LDOs.
- Support PCB stack-up, layout reviews, SI/PI, grounding, thermal, DFM, and DFT activities.
- Apply EMI/EMC design practices and support pre-compliance and compliance testing.
- Perform board bring-up, debugging, validation, functional testing, and root-cause analysis.
- Manage hardware development through prototype, EVT/DVT/PVT, production, and sustaining phases.
- Collaborate with firmware, software, PCB layout, sourcing, manufacturing, quality, and customer teams.
- Maintain BOMs, design documentation, test procedures, validation reports, and engineering change records.
Required Skills
- Strong hands-on experience in embedded hardware design, schematic capture, component selection, and design reviews.
- Knowledge of microcontrollers, processors, FPGAs, sensors, memory, power components, connectors, protection circuits, and communication interfaces.
- Experience with BOM management, component lifecycle, alternate part identification, EOL/PCN assessment, and cost optimization.
- Understanding of power integrity, converter stability, sequencing, protection, thermal management, and efficiency optimization.
- Good knowledge of PCB design, SI/PI, EMI/EMC, grounding, shielding, DFM, and DFT.Hands-on experience with electronic test and debugging equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum/network analyzers, power analyzers, and multimeters.
- Familiarity with SPI, I²C, UART, CAN, RS485, RS422, LVDS, Ethernet, and USB.
Required Experience
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in embedded hardware or electronic product development.
- Strong analytical, debugging, documentation, and problem-solving abilities.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.Self-driven, accountable, adaptable, and comfortable working in Agile/Scrum environments.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in CubeSat or small-satellite hardware development will be an added advantage, particularly in OBC, EPS, RF/communication, payload interface, or avionics systems.
- Knowledge of low-power architectures, power budgeting, fault tolerance, latch-up protection, redundancy, radiation-aware component selection, derating, watchdog/safe-mode functionality, and mission reliability is preferred.
- Exposure to space hardware environmental testing, including thermal cycling, vibration, shock, vacuum/outgassing, conformal coating, qualification, and acceptance testing, will be an advantage.
- Familiarity with relevant standards such as CubeSat Design Specification, NASA GEVS, ECSS, IPC-A-610 Class 3, IPC-2221/2222, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, and EEE-INST-002 is desirable.
